A frank narrative about relationships with the closest people
Volia left her home long ago and does not visit her parents often. Therefore, a conversation with her mother in person, not via a messenger, becomes a real thrill and a revelation. Now that mom and daughter can be very close to each other, it's time for very important and painful questions. Perhaps these questions are not the easiest and most pleasant ones, but they had to be answered sooner or later. All the more so, Volia is no longer a little girl who looked at the world with eyes wide open, and life experience allows her to see the relationship with her parents and between her parents in a completely different way. Now she can talk with her mother and father as equals and try to find with them what, it would seem, has already become hopelessly lost. The film "Common Language" is shot in the current trend of the intimate documentary, which describes the world in the first person. The author of the film and the founder of the "Northern Lights" Film Festival Volia Chajkouskaya decided on a difficult experiment. During one of her visits to her parents' house in Vitebsk, she set up a camera and recorded her conversations with her parents. This resulted in a sincere and very touching declaration of love for her family. A simple and unsophisticated film captivates with real, genuine emotions, which are rarely seen in documentaries.
