The main character of this short film moved to the States from the Belarusian capital. And now she is trying to simply survive in the concrete jungle of big New York - she has no job and no money, but there is talent, ambition and a desire to succeed in one of the most ruthless megacities in the world at all costs. And there is her artwork - pictures that a Belarusian girl is ready to offer to the world, but it is an extremely difficult task to get through to buyers in a place where thousands and thousands of talented people compete. To make your dream come true, you can make any sacrifices... Another autobiographical picture in the "Northern Lights 2021" program. Anastasiya Sergienya moved from Minsk to New York to study cinema. She graduated from film school and directed her first film with the help of money raised through crowdfunding. For a debut picture, her film turned out to be professional and well thought out. "Soyka" is a short and very eventful film, a film guide to the migrant New York through the eyes of the Belarusian girl Anna. This film can be called feminist: in addition to the usual difficulties any migrant faces, Anna meets a peculiar attitude from men. The director and performer of the role of Anna, famous Russian actress Lyanka Gryu, who has already lived in Los Angeles for a long time, managed to successfully convey all the emigrant fears and the feeling of loneliness in the big city.
