Peter Hoeg, the most noted and enigmatic Danish writer, is joining Nothern Lights Film Festival online. Hoeg's captivating melancholic mystery books are often written from a woman's perspective — including his bestseller "Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow" put on the screen by Bille August, a classic of Danish cinema. Together with writer Tatiana Zamirovskaia and film and stage director Volia Chaikovskaia, they will have a conversation on the literary and the cinematic.

Peter Hoeg is one of the most noted Danish writers, his books translated into more than 30 languages. Born in Copenhagen, he attended a private school and graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a MA in Literature. Before having started his writing career, he tried a range of amusements: fencing, mountaineering, dancing in the Royal Danish Ballet, yachting, travelling around the world, and teaching performing arts. Among the most famous Hoeg's novels are "Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow", "Borderliners", "The Elephant Keepers' Children", "The Quiet Girl", "The Woman and the Ape", "The History of Danish Dreams", "Tales of the Night". All his work are hand-written. Peter Hoeg is fond of eastern philosophy and enjoys a hermit's reputation, as he would spend half a year with his family on a distant island of Jutland, casting the public aside, meditating and writing books.

Tatsiana Zamirovskaya. Belarusian writer, journalist, the author of bestselling novel "Deadnet" (USA/Belarus)

Tatsiana Zamirovskaya is a Belarusian writer and journalist, who worked for a variety of Belarusian independent media as an art critic. Moved to New York in 2015 to get her MFA in Creative Writing at Bard College (Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts). Tatsiana is the author of 3 short stories collections, published by AST Publishing House (Moscow, Russia), and a bestselling novel “The Deadnet”, published by Elena Shubina Imprint in 2021, and long-listed at the Russian “National Bestseller” award. Tatsiana is a recipient of Macdowell fellowship and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts fellowship. Currently a resident of Brooklyn, NY, Tatsiana makes a frequent appearance in anthologies of short stories curated by writer Max Frei.

Volia Chajkouskaya. Director of Northern Lights Film Festival in Belarus, producer, film director (Estonia/Belarus)

Volia Chajkouskaya was born in Belarus, currently living in Estonia. She started off with journalism studies and has 11 years of working experience in media. Volia also obtained a Masters Degree in directing and producing documentary films in Baltic Film and Media School (Tallinn, Estonia). She launched Volia Films production company in 2016, the company is registered in Estonia and Belarus. Volia Films produced a full-length documentary “The Road Movie” (dir. Dmitrii Kalashnikov) in 2016. The Road Movie was world premiered at IDFA First Appearance Competition the same year and was screened at more than 80 festivals. Volia is a voting member of European Film Academy and a board member of the Producers and Film Production Guild of Belarus. She is a founder and program director of Northern Lights Film Festival in Belarus. In 2019 Volia joined Allfilm production company as a producer and director. Currently has three projects in active stages.
