Jury of the SHORTCUT Short Film Competition

This year, the Northern Lights Film Festival is holding the SHORTCUT Short Film Competition for the first time.

During the film festival, the International Jury consisting of three people will review short films. The winning film will receive the title of the Best Short Film and a Northern Lights FF diploma, and the Jury can also mark other films of the competition program with Special Mentions.

Otto Suuronen is an advisor in the Finnish Film Foundation’s international department. He is responsible for the cultural export support schemes for Finnish short films and their festival distribution.
Otto graduated from the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in 2009, specializing in film, media education, and creative writing.
Suuronen has worked in film as a member of the Finnish Film Archive’s screening activities unit, an archive assistant of the National Audiovisual Archive, a freelance writer, a curator, a film assistant, and a cinema employee. Suuronen is also a member of Filmiaura, an association behind the national film award, Jussi (Finnish Oscars), and a founding member of Keski-Suomen elokuvakeskus (Central Finland Film Center).

Jury

Artsiom Lobach is a Belarusian film director, documentalist, and clipmaker with over 10 years of experience. Artsiom has graduated from Minsk College of Arts with a degree in design. He went on to study film and TV directing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Minsk, feature filmmaking in Warsaw, and documentary filmmaking at Andrzej Wajda's school. Lobach is the author and director of a series of documentaries for BELSAT TV and currenttime.tv; he also directed and edited the “Belsat Music Live” TV show.
Artsiom Lobach's folmography includes "Hrodna. New World" (2008), "Kalety" (2009), "Simple Things" (2012), "Belarusian Songs: Tradition of Distance" (2017), "Way Home" (2020), and short films "Twilight" (2009), "Home" (2010), and "Closer Than You Think" (2015).

Lucila Ivana Riggio is an Italian-Argentine sales agent born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1985, and currently living in Italy. She graduated from Universidad de Buenos Aires as an Image and Sound Designer, where she was also a teacher of film production for several years. She is the producer of award-winning short films and the co-founder of ShortsFit, where, since 2015, has been in charge of film festival distribution, world sales, and acquisitions, of short films, documentaries, independent feature films and animation series for kids.
