Making Films That Pierce. A talk with Magnus von Horn on the industry and the philosophy of cinema

The Director With The Needle

after the credits
Oscar-nominated director Magnus von Horn, in conversation with moderator Marcin Luczaj from New Europe Film Sales, will discuss his journey from early student films to the international stage. They will talk about how Magnus found his own cinematic voice, the challenges of transitioning from short films to feature-length productions, how he built his (film) family in Poland, the filmmakers and artists who inspire him, and what the day-to-day life of a director looks like when the camera isn’t rolling.

Nordics Explain — a new Northern Lights FF initiative in Warsaw that connects Nordic filmmakers — including Magnus von Horn and Nils Toftenow — with Belarusian creators in exile, as well as emerging filmmakers and young cinema enthusiasts in Poland. The idea is simple: Nordic professionals share real, practical tools that help filmmakers who are working under strong political and financial pressure keep on creating and stay connected to the industry.
