Estonian director Meel Paliale turns his own observations of everyday life into a sincere, almost documentary-like portrait of Gen Z suddenly finding themselves adrift in the whirlpool of adulthood. At the center of the story is Sebastjan, a cashier from Tallinn whose monotonous days are upended after he meets Silo, a mustached hedonist and dreamer. Together, they wander the streets, talk about freedom, smoke weed, and fantasize about escaping to Brazil — far from routine and poverty.
Built on real conversations and improvised scenes by young actors, the film becomes a kind of time capsule of 2020s Tallinn — a vivid reflection of the anxieties, rebellion, and hopes of a generation searching for meaning between despair and the longing for real life.
