This family needs a new hero: a touching self-portrait of the director, his brothers, and the devastating tragedy that led to their alienation from each other
In Denmark, there are no mountains that Muhammad can go to. However, in Norway, they abound. It is in this country that the director, Christian Einshøj, grew up, where his parents still live, and where the house stands in which a major family tragedy once occurred. The early death of a brother gradually drove apart the parents and Christian's two younger brothers, each of whom has their own life story. It seems they have lost the ability to communicate with each other, preferring to remain silent about their problems and avoid conversations. Armed with a camera, an archive of 75,000 family photographs, 30 years of home videos, a vast collection of stamps, the eight-bit music of Toke Brorson Odin ("Winter Brothers"), and latex costumes of Batman, Robin, and Spider-Man, the director decides to melt the ice that has built up over 25 years. Einshøj embarks on a superheroic mission into his own childhood, sincerely, with tenderness and humor, trying to understand why family bonds became so fragile under the weight of sorrow and how they can be pieced back together.
